What Is Skimming?

Skimming is the application of a thin coat of finishing plaster over existing walls or ceilings. It creates a smooth, uniform surface that's ready to paint once dry. It's the ideal solution for tired, textured or damaged walls in Falkirk homes — and Artex ceiling over-skims on 1960s–80s estates, lime plaster repairs on older town-centre properties, and ceiling replacements after water damage. Skimming covers hairline cracks, old wallpaper residue and minor imperfections, leaving a flawless finish that lasts for decades.
